Sustainability meets fire cooking

Summary

Phill and Deb Lewis are passionate about creating sustainable restaurants and this conversion of a local landmark in Cardiff took their ambition to a whole new level.

Story

The building was a bungalow on the edge of Sophia Gardens which used to be the park warden’s house. In order to make budgets work, the project has been split over two phases, with the first phase seeing the kitchen, bar and toilets created within the original building whilst the customer seating is located outside in the extensive gardens which surround the restaurant.

Details

Everything has been designed with sustainability in mind, including the expectation that much of the interior will need to be disassembled in the near future to allow for the second phase of construction to take place.

Kind words from our clients

“Having worked with David & Brendan from Object Space Place for a number of years in the creation of Kindle we are honoured to call them friends.

Opening a new restaurant with so much ambition to change the system was overwhelming and to channel our design/ direction was made infinitely easier working with OSP. They are a talented and professional bunch. Courteous, understanding and reassuring from start to finish.

As our project is split in two phases we know that we made the right decision in appointing them and getting us through the first phase of our restaurant design. We look forward (actually can’t wait) to work with them again on the final phase of Kindle.”
